Interdistrict Attendance and Expulsion Appeals

Statutory responsibility of the Madera County Board of Education is to hear and rule on Expulsion Appeals and Interdistrict Attendance Appeals. 
EXPULSION APPEALS:  A student or the parent/guardian of a minor student who is expelled from a school district within Madera County is entitled to appeal the decision of their district’s governing board to the Madera County Board of Education. This appeal must be filed within thirty (30) days of the local governing board’s decision to expel, even if the expulsion action is suspended.

INTERDISTRICT ATTENDANCE APPEALS: A student or the parent/guardian of a minor student when either the district of residence or the requested district of attendance denies the transfer may appeal the decision to the Madera County Board of Education.  The appeal (with appropriate paperwork) must be filed within thirty (30) days of the local governing board's decision.
